  • Brief History of Central Library

    The Central Library of WBUAFS has come into existence w.e.f. 2nd June, 1995 at Kolkata Campus after being bifurcated from the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya. A University Library as a subsystem of University Organization has not been a division only providing services for studies and research any longer. Instead, it has become an important unit of University information infrastructure and an active participant in the learning process of the particular study program. Together with the University departments and teaching stuff the academic library services to realize the study aims. The Library one of the potential learning environments that functions at the university. It is characterized by the abundance of information sources.

    Establishment of Library Unit, Faculty of Fishery Science, Chakgaria.

    2014 (August)

    Establishment of Library Unit, Faculty of Veterinary, Mohanpur in presence of Vice-Chancellor.

    • The resources of the Library in terms of printed accessioned books have been entered, cataloged and classified into the Library Management Software.
    • Digitization of all PG and Ph.D Theses, Rare books and documents. These documents are entered into the Krishi Kosh.
    • Electronic surveillance system (CCTV) has been installed in the all libraries to ensure proper safety and security of the valuable library collection.
    • Information hub has been introduced in four libraries.
    • Wi-fi Facilities given in four libraries.
    • Electronic circulation control system through Koha.
    • Bar coding of all library document.
    • Electronic ID cards for library users and University’s staff.
    • University Official e-mail Ids.
