• Introduction

    NSS Units organizing awareness camp, health camp and vaccination camp in different villages of West Bengal.  Apart from this different programs directed by NSS Cell of Govt. of West Bengal and Govt. of India, like International Yoga Day, Swachh Bharat Avijan, Vivek Chetna Utsav etc have been organized. Three NSS Units are present in University, one in each Faculty.

    • CLEANLINESS DRIVE PROGRAMME under NSS Unit on 17-20th March, 2021:

     “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” keeping this great proverb in mind NSS unit, WBUAFS organised Cleanliness Drive programme under Swachhta Action Plan, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India from 17th to 20th March 2021 by the visionary leadership of Prof. S. Batabayal, DSW & NSS Programme Co-ordinator of the university. The programme was carried out by all the NSS volunteers, teachers, officers, students and staffs of three campuses of the university by cleaning the campus premises enthusiastically.
    The main objective of the programme was to spread awareness among the students about the significance of Cleanliness and its benefits to mark the ambitious mission of Clean India.
    The programme was observed in Chakgria, Belgchia and Mohanpur campus on 17th, 18th and 19th March, 2021 respectively. On 20th March one seminar was organised on “Cleanliness Drive” at Seminar hall, Faculty of Dairy Technology, Mohanpur, Nadia. Prof. C. Guha, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the university was present in the programme as a chief Guest. Sri. Vinay Kumar, Regional Director, NSS, Govt. of India and Dr. S. Chandra, Registrar, WBUAFS graced the occasion as special guest. Dr. Sukhen Biswas, NSS Programme Co-ordinator, University of Kalyani was present as Guest of Honour. Beside this Prof. B. K. Das, DREF and Dean, F/o FSc; Prof. T. K. Maity, Dean, F/o DT were also present in the said programme.
    Prof. C. Guha told that “cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment”. “It is essential for everyone to clean our mind first after that our soul will be purified” added Sri. Vinay Kumar. Lastly Prof. S. Batabayal said “to encourage the students about the cleanliness, university will arrange such programmes broadly in near future”. The programme came to end with the vote of thanks by Dr. Pradip Roy, NSS Programme Officer, F/o DT.

    • Celebration of World Yoga Day on 21st June, 2021:

    Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word yoga’ derived from Sanskrit that means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. The union referred to is that of the individual self-uniting with Cosmic Consciousness or the Universal Spirit. Yoga is believed to have evolved during the period of the ‘Sat Yuga’, also called the Golden age. It was not until the discovery of the Indus- valley civilization, the largest civilization: that the knowledge about the origin of Yoga surfaced. Recognizing its Universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21st June as the “International Day of Yoga”. Since 2015 onwards 21th June is celebrated as International Day of Yoga throughout the world.
    Like every year, this year also WBUAFS observed International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2021 with enthusiasm in association with NSS unit of the University by virtual mode. All the NSS volunteers, teachers, students of the university joined the webinar and live yoga session by the able leadership of Prof. S. Batabayal, DSW and NSS programme Co-ordinator, WBUAFS. In his welcome address, he said physical fitness should always be a priority for all and yoga is the best way to keep oneself physically and psychologically strong especially in the present challenging situation. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Guha was present in the programme as a Chief Guest. Dr. B. P. Mohanty, ADG (Inland Fishery), ICAR glorified the programme as a Special Guest. Dr. Sukhen Biswas, NSS programme Co-ordinator, University of Kalyani; Registrar of the university Dr. C. Chandra; Director of Rsearch, Extension & Farms and Dean, F/o F.Sc., Prof. B. K. Das; Dean, F/o VAS, Prof. N. Ghosh and Dean, F/o DT Prof. T. K. Maity graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Prof. S. K. Rout, Head, Dept of AEM delivered a long session about different forms of Yoga and Pranayam and guided the wright way to practice them.
    The NSS Unit, WBUAFS also conducted following competitions to spread awareness and positive vibe about Yoga on our health.
